NUTRITION & HOLISTIC HEALTH COUNSELING
I have been fascinated by the healing power of food my entire life. The variety and vibrancy of fresh whole foods available to us in this age of modern farming and food distribution is absolutely remarkable. I am particularly enchanted by leafy greens, California avocados, the mighty coconut and traditional foods from the spicy funkiness of kimchee, to the sweet and sourness of borscht. I spend a lot of time in my kitchen experimenting with new ingredients, making mistakes, and also making delicious discoveries. But, I have not always had an exciting relationship with food and eating. My teen years through college and early adulthood were fraught with body image issues, feelings of depression and low self-worth. This led me towards cycles of harsh dieting to binging, which in combination weakened my body, ruined my mood, and wrecked my self-confidence perpetuating the cycle I was trying to escape. Learning to transform my own struggles with food, nourish myself and care deeply about the food I was putting into my body has been an amazing evolution and one that I continue to navigate and learn from.
In 2012 I completed a course of study in nutrition through The Institute for Integrative Nutrition. As a nutrition and health counselor I specialize in providing ongoing support and guidance as you set goals and make sustainable changes in diet and lifestyle that improve your health and happiness. I will listen carefully and help you to navigate the world of contradictory nutrition advice to determine what changes are necessary for you. Together we will explore concerns specific to you and your body and discover the tools that can lead you towards lasting results.
