The Body as Teacher and Story Teller: Integrating Anatomy, Emotion & Imagination
Dive deep in this 5-week online workshop series based in physical practice and the Tamalpa Life/Art Process.
• Learn the anatomical truths and potentials of the body via lecture and experiential Pilates & yoga practices
• Develop understanding of and language for personal metaphor and mythology
• Deepen creative skill and confidence through moving, drawing and writing
• Generate embodied and compelling personal intentions and themes and complete a self-portrait
• Receive one-on-one feedback and support in your explorations and discoveries
The Tamalpa Life/Art Process was developed by dance trail blazer Anna Halprin, and her dancer-turned-therapist daughter, Daria Halprin. The Halprin work combines the artistic elements of drawing, writing, moving/dancing, and performance. Through the creative process it aims to guide participants to identify their own life themes and challenges and move towards healing and understanding.
When: Saturday 10am-12pm • June 13 - July 11, 2020
Where: Online from your home
What: 15+ hours of group workshop time, anatomy lecture and resources, and a one-on-one session with Marisha.
COST: Suggested donation sliding scale $125-225 for the series. No one turned away for lack of funds and scholarships available for those currently un/under-employed. Payment via VENMO (@Marisha-Doan) or PAYPAL (Marisha Doan Movement & Wellness).
Prerequisites: Open to all experience levels and all bodies. Please wear clothing you can comfortably move in. We will go between movement exercises and stillness. Clear floor space with supportive seating/lounging is recommended. You will need large drawing paper, colorful markers, pencils or oil pastels, and you may want a separate notebook for writing.
